The rapid advance of technologies is causing an alarming consumption of natural resources which eventually produces the reduction of high-grade ore reserves. Circular economy from biological transformation can be an efficient and sustainable way of e-waste valorization. United Nations Environmental Program estimated is the kind of waste which increases faster (3-5 % per year), which is nearly three times faster than the growth of municipal waste. Most of metals concentration in e-waste is higher than those found in natural deposits. This fact demonstrates the importance of electronic waste as a possible source of raw materials and the motivation to develop processes to recover these metals from them. Bio-hydrometallurgical processes has been developed as an alternative technology for recovering metals from ores and concentrates.
