This repository contains the datasets used in the manuscript "Different traits shape winners and losers in urban bird assemblages across seasons" (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-025-00350-6). The file Bird_communities.csv includes species (with species code from scientific name e.g. Columba livia = colliv) abundance data collected at multiple urban points across six Italian cities during both the breeding (two visits: Visit 1 and Visit 2) and winter (one visit: Visit 3) seasons. Traits_breeding.csv and Traits_winter.csv contain species-level ecological and functional traits used to assess trait-based community responses in the respective seasons. Points_imperviousness.csv provides imperviousness cover information for each survey point, used to quantify the degree of urbanization. Together, these files support analyses of how urban bird communities respond to the urbanization gradient and how these responses vary between seasons based on species traits.
