Rhodococcus sp. ADH Genome sequencing and assembly

Human presence in Antarctica represents a serious risk of contamination with hydrocarbons, which are the main energy source for power supply, propulsion of vehicles and heat generation. Accidental spills have been reported, occurring during transportation, storage and manipulation of fuels in scientific stations or related to touristic activities. Bioremediation is the technology of choice to face this problem and restore soils and coastal sediments. This project aims to monitor accidental spills in Antarctica, to understand the response of bacterial communities to the input of pollutants and to design clean-up strategies to treat affected soils and respond to further accidental spills in Antarctica.
