LINGUO-AREAL MAPPING OF THE LEXICON OF UZBEK AND TAJIK DIALECTS IN EASTERN SURKHANDARYA

This article examines the linguo-areal mapping of the lexicon of Uzbek and Tajik dialects in Eastern Surkhandarya. The study highlights the visual and analytical significance of areal linguistics in identifying the territorial distribution of dialectal lexical units and their interrelations. Special attention is given to the ethnolinguistic composition of the region, where Uzbek and Tajik populations have long lived in close contact, resulting in strong linguistic interaction and lexical convergence. The research analyzes the role of tribal, ethnic, and local settlement patterns in the formation and spread of dialectal features. On the basis of collected dialectological materials, a number of areal linguistic maps were developed, reflecting lexical isoglosses and the diversity of everyday synonymous forms in the speech of local communities. The findings demonstrate that the dialectal lexicon of Eastern Surkhandarya represents a complex system shaped by historical, ethnic, social, and geographical factors.
