X-ray images of an in vivo mouse thorax

Example images of mouse lungs acquired in vivo via a bench-top x-ray phase contrast imaging system. The intubated and mechanically ventilated mouse is imaged in the upright position during a four-second breath hold. The source to object distance is 59 cm and the object to detector distance is 177 cm. The images are 1984x1984 pixels and the edges correspond to approximately 60 millimeters in length. The original images have undergone a standard flat-field correction, have been contrast enhanced in the context of a larger data set and converted to an 8-bit gray scale. The first four frames of the multi-page TIFF file correspond to inflation pressures 6, 8, 10 and 12 cmH2O, respectively. The last four frames are examples of possible training labels indicating various regions of interest as part of a study of the local variations in observed lung image texture.
