RECYPAP - Preliminary risk assessment of substances potentially migrating from (recycled) paper and board food contact materials

RECYPAP is a METROFOOD-BE use case focused on the preliminary risk assessment of substances potentially migrating from recycled paper and board food contact materials. The project compiles and structures information on chemicals that may be present in recycled fibre-based packaging, including additives, contaminants, degradation products and non-intentionally added substances. The generated data include substance identifiers, source information, toxicological data, hazard assessment outputs, prioritisation results, SILIFOOD-based screening information and preliminary risk assessment scenarios. RECYPAP supports the safe reuse of recycled materials within the circular economy by providing structured evidence for prioritising substances, identifying potential hazards and guiding further assessment of recycled paper and board materials intended for food contact applications.
