Dataset to support findings on systematic review and meta-analysis: epidemiology of bovine tuberculosis in Tanzania

Epidemiological information on bovine tuberculosis (bTB) in Tanzania is inconsistent leading to immense implications to livestock and public health sectors. In light of this gaps, we synthesized the current epidemiological evidence of bTB in Tanzania by reviewing articles published between 1993 to 2023. This systematic review compiles data on the epidemiology of bTB in Tanzania using eleven sub-themes: prevalence, distribution, incidence, transmission, risk factors, reservoirs, diagnostics, genetic diversity, outbreaks, surveillance, and control measures. The findings will guide Tanzanian policymakers, researchers, and other key stakeholders in prioritizing data-driven research, control and surveillance strategies.A flow chart of the PRISMA 2020 flow diagram for new systematic reviews was used to guide and trace the overall screening process
