Historico-Etymological Dataset on the Development of Obstruent-Lateral Clusters in Ibero-Romance

This dataset documents the evolution of obstruent+lateral (OL) clusters (/pl/, /fl/, /bl/, /kl/, /gl/) in the Ibero-Romance languages. It was compiled to provide the first systematic, cross-linguistic description of the development of these clusters, including both palatal and non-palatal outcomes. The corpus covers mainly Galician, Portuguese, Spanish, and their historical stages (Galician-Portuguese, Old Spanish), as well as further regional varieties of the Iberian Peninsula. Etyma are primarily from Latin or Late Latin. The dataset currently comprises 659 etymologies. Inherited forms are attested between the 8th and 20th centuries, with the majority of attestations falling between the 11th and 15th centuries.
