Degradome sequencing of Brassica napus root samples to characterize the infection with Verticillium longisporum

Sterilized seeds were first grown on ½ MS medium (0,5% sucrose) under short day conditions (8 h light, 22°C). Seven day old seedlings were removed from the medium and root dipped in either Verticillium longisporum (VL43) conidia solution (2x10^6 conidia/ml) or mock (control) for 15 min. B. napus plants were then transferred to plastic folding boxes (2 cm x 1,5 cm) filled with sand and fertilized with WUXAL® universal fertilizer treated tab water. At 6 dpi RNA for degradome sequencing was isolated from root material.
