Arthrospira has existed on Earth for at least 3.5 billion years and is one of the earliest photosynthesizing organisms, which is a kind of natural edible and officinal algae for hundreds of years. Arthrospira is one of the most widely developed and used economic microalgae at home and abroad, which is mainly used in food and health care products, medicine, green energy and low carbon environmental protection fields. Arthrospira is widely distributed and has strong survival ability, which can adapt to changing temperature, salinity and pH in a large scale. Arthrospira contains a variety of nutrients, and the total protein concentration is around 60-70% of cell dry weight, which is the highest in natural edible organisms so far. In addition, polysaccharides, polyunsaturated fatty acids, Vitamin B, carotenoids, minerals all belongs to its biological active substances.Arthrospira has been praised as "the most ideal food resource for human beings in the 21st century" by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and "one of the best protein sources for human beings in the 21st century" by the World Health Organization (WHO).We collected samples from Bayannur Lake in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. Arthrospira platensis was isolated and purified named as sp.DD. The genome information of sp.DD was obtained by PacBio platform.We hope to help guide the better development of Arthrospira platensis sp.DD.
