Patients were predominantly from the Illawarra region and included vocations such as miners as well as smelters and labourers from the Port Kembla Smelter Works      Ledger of accounts detailing, date of episode of care, name of patient, occupation, address (name of town), length of stay, cost and payments. The journal was created to document episodes of care and the length of stay as well as the financial cost and payment transactions of patients who were treated at the hospital during the period above.
