Desmodesmus abundans strain RSM has been growing in high CO2 atmospheres for 8 years.This isolate showed high growth rates when subjected to simulated flue gas conditions of a modern cement plant and it is a prospective candidate for direct flue gas mitigation systems.Thus, after eight years of high CO2 exposure, understanding global changes in gene expression by using RNA-seq may elucidate the survival strategy of RSM and could bring insight into its extraordinary ability to grow under high CO2 atmospheres.
