"CULTURE OF PEACE": GENESIS OF A FORMULA BETWEEN WAR AND VIOLENCE DISCOURSES

ABSTRACT In this work, we follow the development of the syntagma "culture of peace" in the Brazilian public space from its institutional genesis to the year of 2012, by verifying its consolidation during the International Decade of a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (2001-2010 - UN) and its functioning as a discursive formula (KRIEG-PLANQUE, 2010). We show how a consensus effect is produced on the linguistic surface of this syntagma that, when circulating, is summoned by diverse interpretations that depart mainly from the central sema "coexistence". We will focus on the relationship between the "culture of peace" genesis and the circulation of "discourses of war and violence" which are materialized in everyday practices and technical objects.
