The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) BioData system provides access to over 15,000 fish, benthic macroinvertebrate, and periphyton community samples and associated habitat data collected by USGS scientists from over 2,000 locations across the nation. The data were collected by a variety of USGS programs and projects for the purpose of describing aquatic communities in streams and rivers - most often in the course of conducting bioassessment and biomonitoring projects and research.
