We selected SNPs markers from the HapMap database using SNPBrowser™program (version 3.0) that obtained from Applied Biosystems Inc.The procedure has been published in a study(Shaw et al., 2009). The selection standard of tagging SNPs were based on the pairwise r²≥0.8 and SNPs with minor allele frequencies (MAFs) <10% were excluded. These genetic loci (rs535107, rs2274976, rs1889292, rs4846052, rs4846048, rs7525338, rs3737964, rs1931226, rs4846051, rs1476413, rs2066470, rs1801133 and rs1801131) of the MTHFR gene were ultimately selected as candidate loci for this study.
