VIT-Coleopterotheca (The Natural History Museum of ?lava)

The Coleopterotheca of the Natural History Museum of ?lava began in 1974 and nowadays, it holds around 160.000 specimens, of which 133.700 are databased. The number of taxa is approximately 5.000. The main collectors are Juan Mar?a Marcos, Imanol Zabalegui, Federico Zuazo, Ibon de Olano, Diego S?nchez Miyares, Pablo Bahillo, Felipe Calvo, Jos? Mar?a Salgado y Jos? Sebasti?n Est?vez. The collection is particularly numerous in specimens of the Caraboidea superfamily from the Basque Country (Northern Spain)(Ortu?o & Marcos, 2003); and in cave fauna, including many paratypes, collected in different locations in the Northern half of Spain.
