Balancing selection on an MYB transcription factor maintains the twig trichome color polymorphism in Melastoma normale

The factors that maintain phenotypic and genetic variation within a population have received long-term attention in evolutionary biology. We investigate the genetic basis and evolution of a geographically widespread twig trichome color polymorphism (Red and White) in a shrub Melastoma normale using Pool-seq and evolutionary analyses.
