Data Literacy and Geography

The dataset was created by conducting a scoping review. Three bibliographic databases (Web of Science, ProQuest, and ERIC) were used for the literature search between September 5, 2023, and October 13, 2023. The search protocol included search criteria (published article, peer-reviewed article) and different search strings with key search terms based on the terms data and geography, as well as synonymous terms related to the data life cycle by Grillenberger and Romeike (2017, 2018) and education using Boolean operators (AND; OR) and asterisks (*). The literature search generated 3,566 journal articles, of which 2,051 were duplicates and further 1,515 were removed due to exclusion criteria. The “dataset” document contains 222 journal articles, which have the following characteristics in addition to the search criteria: English language publication, publication period from January 1, 2013, to October 13, 2023. The table lists the bibliographic information for the journal articles in different columns: Author(s), year of publication, title, and journal name.
