Danish Gallup Omnibus Data, 1960

Danish Gallup Omnibus Data, 1960 comprises 22 omnibus surveys carried out by the Danish Gallup Institute in 1960. # #Each omnibus contains a number of demographic variables and some variables dealing with current topics. The demographic variables are common to all the surveys and form the basis of the year file, which contains the demographic variables for all the cases of the 22 omnibuses. # #The questions common to all 1960 omnibuses are: residence accord- ing to degree of urbanization; the respondent's sex, age and mari- tal status; occupational status and income of head of household; size of household and composition of family (not included in omni- bus nos. 03, 04, 05 and 07); occupational status of the housewife; the respondent's social group; party preference; and whether the household owns a car. #Because of partial replication of questions in the 1960 omnibuses, some of them have been merged into clusters. # #The special questions deal with such issues as: # #Omnibus no. 03 (DDA-0444): #The possibility of Princess Margrethe marrying a foreigner; cigarette smoking and lung cancer; roadside trees and road safety; and Christmas present expenditure. # #Omnibuses 04, 05 and 07 (DDA-0445): #Summer holidays abroad; attitudes to the Government; travelling by air; and Danish membership of NATO. # #Omnibuses 11, 12 and 13 (DDA-0446): #Drunken driving; alcohol and driving; commercials on TV; and mud flaps for cars. # #Omnibus no. 14 (DDA-0447): #No special questions. # #Omnibus no. 22 (DDA-0448): #Premarital relations; the expected development of Danish economy next year; American spying on the Soviet Union and the reputation of the United States; religious instruction in schools (denominational or optional?); and contraception for girls leaving school. # #Omnibus no. 26 (DDA-0449): #Attitudes to the Government; Danish membership of NATO; wage increases within the last two months; the influence of mothers'-in-law on their children's marriages; and the duration of the respondent's marriage. # #Omnibus no. 29 (DDA-0450): #Factors which make a job satisfactory; satisfaction with own job; domestic animals/pets; and voting: a right or a duty at general elections? # #Omnibus no. 36 (DDA-0451): #The Berlin crisis; the Cold War between the East and the West; collective bargaining (state intervention or labour market conflict?); development aid; and voting: a right or a duty at general elections? # #Omnibus no. 38 (DDA-0452): #Party politics (is the respondent satisfied with the party for which she/he voted at the previous general election?); the government coalition preferred (a two or a three-party coalition?); tax deductions; P.A.Y.E. tax; the influence of small political parties; the co-operation between the Social Democratic Party, the Radical Liberal Party and the Single-Tax Party; the electoral age; attitudes to the Government; abolition of taxes on real property; and income tax versus consumption tax (VAT). # #Omnibuses 40 and 41 (DDA-0453): #Lowering of the electoral age from 23 to 21; attitudes to the Government; abolition of taxes on real property; and income tax versus consumption tax (VAT). # #Omnibuses 44 and 45 (DDA-0454): #The electoral age; Danish membership of NATO; car thefts; and the TV programme about car thefts. # #Omnibus no. 46 (DDA-0455): #The electoral age; Danish membership of NATO; car thefts; the TV programme about car thefts; work versus spare time; and expected Christmas present expenditure. # #Omnibus no. 47 (DDA-0456): #Work versus spare time; and expected Christmas present expenditure. # #Omnibuses 48, 49 and 50 (DDA-0457): #No special questions. # #Unless otherwise stated, the rest of this study description deals with the recurring questions only.
