The project presents a new foraging task named "snapshot" foraging, which allows for tighter control of local target and distractor type ratios while maintaining the flavor of a sequential, multiple-target foraging task. The study contrasts feature and conjunction-based foraging and analyzes the data by the proportion of different target types in each trial. It shows how target selection during snapshot foraging is influenced by the relative positions of selected targets and distractors during preceding snapshots and proposes that this method can increase experimental control in understanding how people choose targets during continuous attentional orienting.
