Effects of the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse upon reception of North American signals in the medium-wave broadcast band, using software defined radio files recorded in Raleigh, NC, USA, Part 1
收藏资源简介:
Recorded by: Jim Barnard, W8JB Grid square of location recorded: FM05pr Maximum obscuration of the sun was 78.5% at 1916UT on 8 April 2024. These data files are recordings of the entire medium wave broadcast band (535-1705kHz) made during the total solar eclipse of 8 April 2024 from 1743 to 2130UT from Raleigh, NC, USA. Data Quality: Due to the receiver's HDR mode being disabled during recording, there were a large number of weak spurious carriers, particularly below ~800kHz; also, one 15 sec dropout 18:04:32UT Data files are .wav format, but the archived files are .zip, with about three .wav files packaged together in each .zip file, using the prefix “ W8JB-wideband_150_2150kHz_“. As the total files recorded during the solar eclipse exceeded the Zenodo 50GB limit, the remainder of the dataset is found in “Effects of the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse upon reception of North American signals in the medium-wave broadcast band, using software defined radio files recorded in Raleigh, NC, USA, Part 2”. Antenna: inverted-L 155 feet, RG-8X 112 feet, 9:1 unun Receiver: SDRplay RSPdx, with HDR mode not enabled , using center frequency 1150kHz, recording a 2000kHz wide passband, using SDRuno software. Hardware was not locked to a frequency standard; receiver had been warmed up for four hours Recording computer time was set by BktTimeSync by IZ2BKT Version 1.13.2 Sync every 60 minutes with NTP server ntp1.inrim.it (time and date in recordings used UTC).
