For this project, stool samples from two-year-old children born in either Canada or South Africa were used to gavage germ-free Swiss-Webster mice. Three weeks after the transplant, intestinal (Ileum and Jejunum) and fecal samples were collected from the mice. DNA extracted from these samples were sequenced alongside DNA extracted from the human donor stool samples.
