The study involved inoculating Galleria mellonella (greater wax moth) larvae by micro-injecting 20,000 conidia of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana strain 0062. After 120 hours of infection, fungal mycelium was harvested from the mycosed (fungus-killed) insects for RNA extraction.
