This body of research contributes to the field of environmental communication, by expanding upon the more traditional notion of one-way 'messaging'. Rather, by integrating theory and practice, environmental communication is posited as developing a community’s own ecological storytelling capacity, and enhancing local capacity to identify and address environmental problems.
