Archaeology terminology

The term base of archaeology brings together archaeological concepts (terms and definitions). Archaeologists from both the University of Tartu and Tallinn, Tartu City Museum and the National Heritage Board have been involved in the work of the term committee. In 2014-2015, the terminologist of EKI also took part in the work of the Terminology Committee. The term base is aimed primarily at Estonian-speaking users: the definitions are explained in Estonian and there are also linguistic recommendations. In addition to Estonian, the aim is to supplement the term base with English terms and, if possible, to add other languages. The terminology database will be updated as new information becomes available.
