Bird species and landscape variables data

Data on the bird species recorded in 15 habitat patches across Birmingham, UK between 17 to 21 August 2025. Audio data was recorded using Song Meter Micro audio recorders, and BirdNET (accompanied by manual validation) was used for species identification. Three predictor variables (patch density, matrix urbanisation and habitat amount) were analysed in a 1km buffer surrounding each habitat patch. Data were collected to enable a patch-landscape study, where the landscape scale effects of habitat fragmentation per se, and the influence of matrix urbanisation on habitat fragmentation per se, were examined.
