Bacterial diversity of three soil types treated with biochar

The study investigated the effect of biochar derived from poultry litter and acacia on soil bacterial diversity in three different soil types. Biochar is a charcoal-like material obtained through pyrolysis of organic materials at elevated temperatures. Biochar has a high organic carbon content and when used as a soil amendment, it can potentially act as a fertilizer that can improve the physicochemical and biological properties of the soil. The downstream impact of the study is to improve crop production using biochar.
