Continuous Global Mangrove Dynamics: Global mangrove stand age in 2023

This dataset provides global mangrove stand age in 2023 at a spatial resolution of 30 m, derived from the annual mangrove extent maps of the Continuous Global Mangrove Dynamics (CGMD) dataset. Stand age is defined as the number of consecutive years of mangrove presence, counted backwards from 2023 to the first year of the most recent uninterrupted period detected by CGMD. Mangroves continuously present throughout 1984–2023 are assigned to the ≥40-year age class, as their establishment may predate the satellite record. The attribute fields include age — Mangrove stand age in years. A value of 40 represents stands aged ≥40 years. Area_ha — Mangrove patch area in hectares, calculated using the World Behrmann equal-area projection. Region — Geographic region in which the mangrove patch is located.
