Commercial fishing reporting blocks for California. This feature is for reference to California commercial fisheries catch and effort data after January 1, 2024. For data prior this date, please refer to Commercial Fishing Blocks (pre Jan 1, 2025) - R7 - CDFW [ds3093] and Offshore Commercial Fishing Blocks (pre Jan 1, 2025) - R7 - CDFW [ds3148]. These commercial fishing blocks are the primary index for locating commercial catch reported to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife by landing receipt or log book record. Catch data from the Marine Landings Data System (MLDS), the (discontinued) Commercial Fishing Information System (CFIS), and the Marine Log System (MLS) will reference the spatial units found in this file. This is an updated collection of blocks effective starting Jan 1, 2025, as specified in California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 190.
