Environmental factors such as soil composition and microbiome have influence on the composition of the plant microbiome (Dastogeer et al., 2020). To isolate the effect of vertical transmission on the plant fungal endophyte communities we conducted a greenhouse experiment. We grew seeds of the three plant species that were collected from different sites across in sterilized soil in ta greenhouse. We collected original seeds , greenhouse grown stems and new seeds, and soil samples at three time points along the experiment: sowing, plant heading and new seeds collection.
