IMPACT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TOOLS ON CONSTRUCTION PROJECT DELIERY IN JOS METROPOLIS, NIGERIA

Abstract: The research explored the Impact of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Tools had impacted on the construction project delivery in Nigeria, with emphasis on ICT tools available to the professionals in the building and construction industry. This was with a view to deepening the use of the ICT innovation so as to achieve increased project delivery in Jos metropolis. Descriptive survey design was used; the research work adopted quantitative research approach, the respondents of this research were professionals in the built industry such as builders, architects, Estate surveyors, civil engineers, land surveyors and quantity surveyors in Jos metropolis and Purposive sampling techniques was used.The result obtained indicated that someof the top ICT tools that professionals are aware of include; 3D Modeling, 4D CAD, Intranet, Technosoft Estimator are the tools above 3.0 which indicate that they are information management tools the construction project manager is very much aware of it. The mostly ,use/apply ICT tools in the project delivery are ; 3D Modeling, 4D CAD, Intranet, Health and Safety are the variable above 3.0 which indicate that they are information management tools the construction project manager use.Variables such as; Difficulty in operation of some packages and High cost of maintenance,areraned as very low having the mean score below 2.0 while Fear of virus attack, System malfunctioning, Low internet connectivity, Continual demand for upgrading and Inadequate/erratic power Supply are below 3.0 which is ranked as low with this analysis it indicates that they do not pose as a much challenge in the use/application of information technology tools on the construction project delivery.the regression analysis shows that all the variables are below 0.05 which indicates that ICT tools has a significant effect on construction project delivery. It is recommended that the Nigeria institute of builders should develop a practical test instrument on the use of information management technology tools as part of requirement for the registration of professional builders.
