Indicator: Stewardship in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed (2017)

It measures stewardship behaviors, future intentions, volunteerism, civic engagement, and related attitudes, then combines those results into a Stewardship Score ranging from 0 to 100. The score includes three components: Personal Actions, which reflects 19 individual behaviors that support water quality and environmental health; Volunteering, which measures participation in community efforts; and Advocating, which measures involvement in civic activities on behalf of water quality and environmental health.</p><p><strong>Note: This Indicator supported progress tracking toward the Stewardship Outcome in the original Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, adopted in 2014. The Watershed Agreement and Stewardship Outcome were revised in 2025.</strong></p>
