Estimated Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Cases in Latin America by Country, 2010 and 2020

This dataset provides macro-level estimates of the number of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Latin American countries for the years 2010 and 2020. Estimates are derived by applying assumed ASD prevalence rates of 0.3% (2010) and 0.6% (2020) to approximate total population figures by country. The prevalence assumptions are informed by regional profiles of autism in Latin America that reported approximately 25–30 ASD cases per 10,000 inhabitants in 2011–2013, and by global systematic reviews and burden of disease estimates that place overall ASD prevalence around 0.6–1% worldwide. Data should be interpreted as modeled estimates, not as administrative counts of diagnosed cases.
