Chromosome-level assembly and annotation of the endangered red-wing fish (Distoechodon macrophthalmus)

In the present study, we have constructed a chromosomal-level genome assembly of D. macrophthalmus, which provides a reference for the genomic studies of D. macrophthalmus in future. We revealed a common chromosome fusion events happened in the ancestral East Asian cyprinid. Also, the systematic phylogenetic relationships of East Asian cyprinid were reconstructed, which contribute to the better understanding the confusing taxonomic relation of East Asian cyprinids. The expanded and contracted gene families characterized the adaptive evolution that could explain the restricted distribution of D. macrophthalmus. These genomic data providing an important resource for further studies of the economically Xenocyprinae fish species such as evolution, conservation and farming breeding.
