Sodium chloride in the tumor microenvironment enhances T cell metabolic fitness and tumor killing

To gain mechanistic insight into the effect of NaCl on CD8+ T cells, we explored the specific impact of NaCl on the bulk transcriptome of human memory CD8+ T cells. Overall design: For comparative gene expression profiling analysis of bulk RNA-seq data, CD8+ memory T cells were isolated ex vivo and stimulated for 48 h with anti-CD3 and anti-CD28 mAbs for a total culture time of 5 days in the presence of low and high NaCl concentrations.
