Publications with Ukrainian Affiliations from Pubmed, 1925-2022

This is a dataset of Ukrainian organization affiliated publications from retrieved from MEDLINE records via PubMed. This files include 1) a RIS for matted text file of over 19,000 records, 2) a non-normalized csv of organizations with counts of publications and other metrics, 3) a tab deliminated text files of all records, 4) and 5) two TIFF files of the visualized organizational map of Ukrainian affiliated co-authors.

Records in this dataset were retrieved from MEDLINE record via the PubMed platform as RIS files. Records were retrieved based on a basic search for Ukrainian or Ukraine information in the affiliation field of PubMed metadata. The search was executed as ukrain*[Affiliation] to include variations of Ukraine or Ukrainian. The search was executed on March 1, 2022 and returned 19,897 records. After deduplication in Zotero, 19,832 records were retained in the final data files found here.

A visualized network of author affiliated organizations is included in the associated files using VOSviewer [version 1.6.16]. Organization names were not normalized Organization names were not normalized or corrected and based solely on the raw metadata retrieved from PubMed. Duplicates or variation of any organization name may appear. Nodes or organizations were limited to those appearing at least five time or great within the dataset. Of 38,567 organization, 482 met this threshold. Of the 482, the visualized network of the 155 most connected organizations was generated. Node size was dictated by the number of times an organization's name appeared in the dataset with larger nodes indicating the organizations having more authors in the dataset. Nodes or organizations nearer to each other indicate a greater number of publications that included authors from those organizations collaboration on publications.
