Our study indicates that, compared to high and low-latitude regions, mid-latitude regions have a more suitable climate for microorganisms. Favorable climate conditions enhance microbial growth and metabolism, promoting soil carbon conversion and storage. Accelerated microbial CUE boosts soil organic carbon (SOC) through microbial cycles. This is of great significance for our understanding of the role of soil microbes in the C cycle and the composition and stability of the soil C pool, and also provides ideas and directions for further exploration of how to regulate soil microbes to achieve better C sequestration and management.
