Growth, movement and fishing mortality of wild lobsters around England and Wales (1974-)

Data were collected to provide information on growth, movement and fishing mortality of wild lobsters, to provide information on growth, movement and survival of hatchery-reared microtagged juvenile lobsters and to study the colonisation of an artificial reef by lobsters. Commercial sized, and undersized lobsters were tagged and released into the fishery and hatchery- reared microtagged juvenile lobsters were released into the fishery. An initial study at Selsey between 1974 and 1975 evaluated different tags. Between 1976 and 1977, 'Burnham' tag releases took place in Northumberland, Yorkshire, Norfolk and Wales. From 1983 to 1988, there was a microtag release of hatchery-reared juveniles. Between 1987 to 1991, there were claw and toggle tag releases in Yorkshire. Between 1991 to 1994, there were claw and toggle tag releases in Dorset (CSG funded artificial reef study with Southampton University).
