The present maps presents a global inundation map estimated for a return period of 500 years. Return periods are conservatively interpreted based on slip rates. Such tsunamis are therefore rare events which may cause extreme consequences in some areas. The map is based on a rough method relating the offshore wave height to the run-up height and are therefore interpreted as approximate. Associated water levels are in m above mean sea level.
