We reported that metformin bind to PRMT6 directly and inhibits the level of PRMT6-catalytic H3R2me2a. To explore whether metformin affects gene expression through H3R2me2a, we used high-throughput whole-genome sequencing to investigate the effect of metformin on H3R2me2a binding in the whole genome. The results show that metformin treatment reduces H3R2me2a binding on the genome, which is responsible for the inhibition of breast cancer cell MCF-7 proliferation.
