Transcriptome analysis of orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) spleen in response to Singapore grouper iridovirus

Orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) is an important economic marine fish cultured in China and Southeast Asian countries. With the rapid development of aquaculture industry, the emergence of infectious viral diseases, including iridovirus and betanodavirus, have severely affected the products of grouper, and caused heavy economic losses. However, limited available information on grouper genomics restricted the better understanding of the molecular mechanisms of the host-virus interaction. In this study, we used 454 pyrosequencing to investigate the global differentially expressed genes in the spleen of Singapore grouper iridovirus (SGIV)-infected orange-spotted grouper (Epinephulus coioides).
