A spatiotemporally harmonized dataset of utility-reported power outages and NWS VTEC weather warnings for the contiguous United States

This Data Descriptor presents a harmonized, event-based archive linking county level customer power outage (hereafter called outage) record from the U.S. Department of Energy’s EAGLE-I platform with National Weather Service (NWS) watches and warnings encoded via the Valid Time Event Code (VTEC) system. The dataset spans the contiguous United States from 2015 through 2024 at hourly resolution. NWS_WARNINGS_COMBINED_data_Updated.csv is the compilation of all the NWS VTEC warnings combined across the years from 2015-2024 Eagle_I_2024_with_NWS_VTEC_combined.csv is the combined Outage - Weather Dataset from 2015-2024 cb_2018_us_county_500k.shp is cartographic boundary shapefile for CONUS collected from US Census Bureau w_08mr23.shp is the NWS Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs) shapefile
