Effects of Laminaria japonica extract supplementation on lactation performance, antioxidant status, immune function, rumen fermentation, and rumen microbiota in late-lactating dairy cows

The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of Laminaria japonica extract (LJE) on supplementation on feed intake, lactation performance, blood antioxidant and immunity, rumen fermentation and rumen microbiota of late-lactating Holstein dairy cows. Thirty-two healthy lactating Holstein dairy cows with similar body weight, milk yield and days in milk were selected and randomly assigned to two dietary groups, receiving either a basal dietor the CON diet supplemented with LJE .
