Species-specific adaptation of three Lake Victoria cichlids

The cichlids in Lake Victoria are a textbook example of adaptive radiation. In this project, we obtained whole-genome sequencing data from six individuals each of three Lake Victoria cichlids, Haplochromis chilotes, Haplochromis sauvagei and Lithochromis rufus, and constructed de novo assembly genome data of one example individual of each species. This project revealed the processes of species-specific adaptation and the importance of standing genetic variation for the adaptation.
