This project characterised the diversity of bacterial communities associated with 42 vegetation-free soils along a maritime Antarctic latitudinal gradient (60-72ºS) using 16S rRNA gene amplicon pyrosequencing. The dataset provides a base-line for future monitoring of maritime Antarctic soil bacterial communities.
