Total DNA was extracted from fecal samples at day 14 and 28 after stroke. 16S rRNA high throughput sequencing was performed using an Illumina HiSeq PE250 (Illumina, San Diego, CA, USA). Raw data were subjected to quality control using UPARSE. Qualified reads were clustered to generate operational taxonomic units (OTUs) at 97 % similarity using Research.
