NRS-4237 | Copies of letters sent [Executive Council]

Copies of letters sent by successive Clerks of the Executive Council. The majority of entries are covering letters of a routine nature (the accompanying enclosures not being transcribed) sent to, for example, clergymen (requesting annual returns of religious establishments); to the Colonial Secretary up to 1848 (returning minute papers tabled before the Council); to members of the Council, Judges, and private persons (requesting their attendance at Council meetings convened by the Governor); and to the Governor (requesting clarification of Council decisions, and suggesting minor alterations to proposed regulations). Where proposed regulations have been referred to departmental officers for opinions, copies of their replies are normally transcribed. NRS 4237 [4/1679] contains notifications of Council meetings convened by the Governor (sent to members of the Council), and copies of letters sent to private persons.
