U.S. Navy Numerical Weather Prediction Fields for the Office of Naval Research Departmental Research Initiative Coastal Land-Air-Sea Interaction

This repository contains Information on numerical weather prediction fields created by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Marine Meteorology Division (MMD) as part of research investigations performed through the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Departmental Research Initiative (DRI) Coastal Land-Air-Sea Interaction (CLASI) (Code 322-LO). The ONR DRI CLASI consisted of four field Experiments spanning 2021 through 2023. NRL MMD completed a simulation of each Experiment using the U.S. Navy's Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS(R))**. This repository contains a sample of the COAMPS output files that are available for each simulated analysis time for each Experiment. To request files corresponding to specific dates and times for any Experiment, please contact: Dr. David Flagg ([e-mail]) The following files are included in this repository: COAMPS_output_file_usage_instructions_zenodo.pdf contains: Details about the COAMPS configuration used to produce these numerical weather prediction fields Information on how to read and process the files A description of how to interpret the file nomenclature, by Experiment, with tables providing full names for the output field abbreviations A list of references for COAMPS *.tgz files: The set of all available output files for the model analysis time 28 August 2022 1200 UTC (Experiment 3). The output files are organized generally by the vertical coordinate sytem of the field (e.g. height, pressure, [native] sigma coordinate, etc.) Information on what is contained within these compressed files can be found in COAMPS_output_file_usage_instructions_zenodo.pdf.
