The State of Government CMS Readiness 2026 (dataset)

CMS platform share, Drupal version/end-of-life status, and eleven SEO/security readiness signals measured across the US .gov/.mil registrant set — 16,314 domains, 9,324 live and measurable. Headline findings: government is the least AI-visible segment measured (25.6% structured data, 14.7% AI-citable, 68.5% grade D/F), and 15.8% of version-exposing government Drupal sites run end-of-life Drupal 7/8/9. Aggregate data only; no individual agency is named. Method in brief: one polite, identified HTTP GET per homepage; no crawling. Signals are objective presence checks observable from a single fetch. CMS inferred from response fingerprints (conservative; unfingerprinted sites grouped as Unknown). Unreachable/bot-walled sites excluded rather than counted as failures.
