Road Noise Overlay

The Road Noise Overlay is identified on the Planning Maps and has some associated rules in the District Plan, related to development within this overlay. A social cost (health) of land transport noise exposure" research project was completed by AECOM in 2023. The Contours are the results of acoustic modelling. They represent the predicted LAeq (24 hour) noise level produced from road traffic, measured in decibels. They show grouped dB bands and are represented as shaded areas. The Taupō District Plan has been operative since 2007. Selected datasets from the Taupō District Plan have been made available for download to allow for better public access to the data underlying the plan. Note that some features mapped for district plan purposes may have changed over time.
